FUNDING INFORMATION AT THE HARRIS LIBRARY:
FC SEARCH
:
Are you looking for grants for your research or nonprofit organization? Are you not
sure where to start? The Harris Library has acquired a powerful new database,
FC Search: The Foundation Center's Database on CD-Rom
that can help you with this task. Finding information on private funding can be
difficult because many private organizations that provide grants do not publicize their activities
and most do not have websites.
FC Search helps make researching these organizations much easier.
The database contains information on more than 80,000 U.S. private funders including
foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities. You can search for
private funders by specifying your field of interest, the type of support needed, and you can
narrow your search to grantmakers who fund organizations in your geographic area. In
addition,
FC Search lists over 334,000 recent grants by the largest foundations and includes the
names of more than 360,000 trustees, officers, and donors. With
FC Search you can link to the most current 990-PF tax returns available, as well as
websites of more than 6,100 private funders and 3,300 corporations to give you a good overview of
their funding activities.
You can use
FC Search during
library hours
. If you want to learn more about
FC Search and receive a tutorial in using the software, please
contact Kristen Kirchgesler,
Reference & Instruction Librarian.
